The case of Craig Setter, The Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC), Aveta Business Institute.

Craig Setter is a Lean Six Sigma Provider who operates Aveta Business Institute – a Lean Six Sigma E-learning Training Provider. Mr. Setter simultaneously offers Lean Six Sigma Accreditation and Certification Services through another organization, the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC).

As a Lean Six Sigma Training Provider, Mr. Setter operates in direct competition with the Lean Six Sigma Training Providers who he solicits to use his Accreditation & Certification Services at CSSC. Further, it appears that he is one man, with no apparent management teams, staff, committees or offices that are publicly listed.

Aveta was once an IASSC Accredited Training Organization. However, after receiving inquires from third parties regarding unethical practices concerning Aveta and CSSC (which is operated by and through its website, sixsigmacouncil.org), IASSC began an investigation into CSSC and Aveta. As part of the investigation, IASSC contacted Mr. Setter for clarification. Surprisingly, Craig Setter failed and refused to answer very basic questions and became hostile. These circumstances ultimately caused IASSC to terminate Aveta as an IASSC Accredited Training Organization.

Even though IASSC terminated Aveta, IASSC continued its investigation and discovered very concerning information. IASSC’s concerns were detailed in a letter (Download) to Mr. Setter. We engaged in discussions with Mr. Setter regarding these issues in an attempt to reach a resolution but were unsuccessful. Mr. Setter attacked IASSC in the process. Accordingly, IASSC is currently pursuing legal action against Mr. Setter. We greatly appreciate your encouragement and support. Thank you!
