The International Association for Six Sigma Certification™ (IASSC™) grants the status of IASSC Certified Black Belt™ (IASSC-CBB), IASSC Certified Green Belt™ (IASSC-CGB), and IASSC Certified Yellow Belt™ (IASSC-CYB) to qualifying parties. Candidates seeking an IASCC-CBB™, IASSC-CGB™, or IASSC-CYB™ hereby acknowledge and agree to comply with the Terms and Conditions contained herein.
Authorized Provider: an entity authorized by IASSC to deliver and facilitate IASSC Certification Exams, including IASSC and its third-party agents, The PeopleCert Group, authorized IASSC Accredited Entities, and authorized IASSC Exam Administrators and/or Proctors.
Candidate(s): a person who is attempting to achieve Certification from IASSC.
Certification: the achievement of IASSC Certified Black Belt (IASSC-CBB), IASSC Certified Green Belt (IASSC-CGB), IASSC Certified Yellow Belt (IASSC-CYB) based on the terms and conditions defined herein.
Current status is granted to Candidates who have successfully achieved Certification, or Recertification, for a period of three (3) years from the day that the Candidate achieved Certification or Recertification. Candidates that have successfully Recertified, according to the terms and conditions of the IASSC Recertification policy, will maintain a Current Certification Status from the original date of Certification.
Elapsed status is applied to Certifications beyond three years from the day that the Candidate last achieved Certification or Recertification.
Retired status is applied to Certifications that are in Current status at the time of notification by the Certified Candidate that they are retired from the profession associated with the Certification.
Revoked status is applied to Certifications that are withdrawn either at the Candidate’s request or by IASSC due to some form of disciplinary action. IASSC maintains records in the Official IASSC Certification Registry indefinitely for all Candidates and may respond to inquires regarding Certification Status.
Certification Number: The unique number that is issued, used and applied by IASSC on a Candidate’s Certificate and within the Official IASSC Certification Register as an identifier.

Grandfathered: a provision that exempts an activity or item from new regulations that would otherwise prevent engagement in that activity or use of that item.
IASSC Certification Exam: examination given to a candidate seeking Certification by IASSC, including but not limited to, the IASSC Black Belt Certification Exam, the IASSC Green Belt Certification Exam, the IASSC Yellow Belt Certification Exam, and IASSC Recertification Exams.

Official IASSC Certification Register: the registry maintained by IASSC as containing information associated with all Candidate Certifications.
Passing Score: the score earned by a Candidate on an IASSC Certification Exam that is required to achieve Certification subject to the terms detailed herein.
Suspect Exam Session: a Certification Examination Session that produces uncommon results and/or is suspected of improper conduct which may or may not include cheating.
Terms & Conditions:
In order to achieve Certification from the International Association for Six Sigma Certification, Candidates must (1) sit for an applicable IASSC Certification Exam, including the IASSC Black Belt Certification Exam, the IASSC Green Belt Certification Exam, or the IASSC Yellow Belt Certification Exam; (2) have the exam administered through an Authorized Provider; (3) achieve a Passing Score; and (4) comply with all Exam Rules, Policies and Conduct.
The Passing Score for the: IASSC Black Belt Certification Exam is 580 points out of 750 points; IASSC Green Belt Certification Exam is 385 points out of 500 points; and Yellow Belt Certification Exam is 230 points out of 300 points.
Successful Candidates will be (1) granted Certification issued by the International Association for Six Sigma Certification, (2) issued an Electronic or Hard Copy IASSC Certificate along with a Certification Number, (3) added to the Official IASSC Certification Register, and (4) granted the right to use the IASSC Certification Marks and Titles consistent with the IASSC Marks Use Policy.
IASSC recognizes IASSC Certified Professionals according to the IASSC Certification Status and Terms defined herein. Certification will remain in a Current status for a period of three (3) years from the time that the Candidate successfully achieves IASSC Certification. After three (3) years the Certification will be converted to an Elapsed status unless the Candidate Recertifies in accordance with IASSC Recertification requirements. Candidates who have successfully conducted IASSC Certification Exams prior to March 1st 2017 will be Grandfathered the Certification Status of Current and noted as such in the Official IASSC Certification Register.
Non-Successful Candidates will be given the opportunity to re-attempt Certification according to IASSC Exam Retake Policy. IASSC Examinations cannot be taken more than once within a 2-week period and cannot be taken more than a total of three times with a 3-month period. ATA application candidates are allowed only 1 retake attempt. ATA candidates that have failed both their original exam and their retake exam must wait at least 6 months from the date of the original application submittal to reapply for Accreditation. Candidates that pass an exam but do not comply with the Exam Retake Policy may not be granted Certification in IASSC’s sole and absolute discretion.
Candidates agree not to use any reference materials during the exam other than the IASSC Exam Reference Packet that is provided directly by IASSC. Candidates understand that all other reference materials are considered unauthorized reference materials and cannot be viewed or used during the exam, including but not limited to, Books, Manuals, Course Material, Internet References or any collaboration with other individuals.
Candidates suspected of cheating or violating IASSC Exam Rules, Policies, Conduct will be subject to the disciplinary action determined by IASSC in its sole and absolute discretion. In the event of a “Suspect Exam Session”, which may include but is not limited to, results inconsistent with normal results or conduct that is suspicious during exam sessions, IASSC will provide candidate with written notification detailing any and all concerns associated with the “Suspect Exam Session.” Candidate will be given seven (7) days from the time of notification by IASSC to respond and defend the actions of concern noted by IASSC. After IASSC’s review of the Candidate’s response, or after the seven (7) days period elapses, IASSC will provide written notification of its decision relative to the Suspect Exam Session, and this decision shall be final. Final decisions regarding Suspect Exam Sessions will be made by IASSC based on its best judgment, and Candidate agrees to honor and be bound by IASSC’s final decision.
IASSC reserves the right to require a live interview of the Candidate who has taken part in a Suspect Examination Session for the purpose of evaluating the subject matter knowledge of the Candidate and/or to ask questions about the response submitted by the Candidate to IASSC. Qualified and authorized representatives appointed by IASSC, in its sole discretion, will conduct any applicable interviews.
Candidate understands that the IASSC Certification Exams are valuable, proprietary, and confidential intellectually property and agrees not to copy or attempt to copy, capture or attempt to capture, IASSC Examinations and/or Exam Questions in any form whatsoever. Candidate understands and agrees that the sole purpose and sole interaction permissible in their use of the IASSC Certification Exams is for the Candidate to complete IASSC Certification Exams as an Examinee in the pursuit of achieving Successful Certification, and that any other use is strictly unauthorized and will be prosecuted to the maximum degree allowable by law.
IASSC-CBB, IASSC-CGB, or IASSC-CYB agrees that IASSC, in its sole discretion, may publicly list the IASSC-CBB, IASSC-CGB, or IASSC-CYB details on the IASSC website. Listing may include, but is not limited to, the Name, Certification Status and Certification dates of any IASSC-CBB, IASSC-CGB, or IASSC-CYB, along with other non-confidential information associated with the IASSC-CBB, IASSC-CGB, or IASSC-CYB. IASSC has the right to list information concerning the IASSC-CBB, IASSC-CGB, or IASSC-CYB within the public Profile, negative or positive, including results of Certification Exams, breaches of code of conduct, etc. Also, the basic IASSC-CBB, IASSC-CGB, or IASSC-CYB information that IASSC displays may change from time to time as new information becomes available. Furthermore, Candidates authorize IASSC to disclose, in its sole discretion, the Status of the Candidates Certification to any party who initiates an inquiry as to the Certification Status of a Candidate.
IASSC-CBB, IASSC-CGB, IASSC-CYB and Candidates acknowledge that they will abide by and uphold the terms and conditions of the IASSC Agreements listed herein and the standards of the IASSC Code of Conduct.
This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA. Any disputes arising in connection with IASSC and Candidate shall be instituted and maintained in the appropriate courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona, and the parties specifically waive any objections to such jurisdiction and venue and irrevocably consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. This Agreement shall be governed in accordance with the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, notwithstanding any conflict-of-law provisions to the contrary. In the event of litigation, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover from the other party, as part of the prevailing party’s costs, reasonable attorneys’ fees, the amount of which shall be fixed by the court, and shall be made a part of any award or judgment rendered (regardless of whether or not the matter is contested). The language in all parts of this Agreement will be construed as a whole according to its fair meaning and not strictly for or against any Party. Any rule of construction to the effect that ambiguities are to be resolved against the drafting Party shall not apply in the interpretation of this Agreement or any amendments hereto. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect and the invalidity or unenforceability of any provision hereof in any jurisdiction shall not affect the validity or enforceability of such provision in any other jurisdiction.
I understand that IASSC is not, nor is affiliated with any governmental agency, and that the Lean Six Sigma Industry is not regulated by any state or federal governmental agency or single authority. IASSC Lean Six Sigma Accreditation(s), Certification(s) and Bodies of Knowledge are voluntarily adopted by professionals in the Lean Six Sigma Industry. I understand that when IASSC uses terms such as “Industry”, “The Industry”, “Industry Standard”, “Universally Accepted”, “Generally Accepted” and other generalized terms, the terms are meant as a generalization of IASSC’s characterization of what it believes to be the industry standard and/or majority view of what constitutes the industry standard. I understand that IASSC endeavors to represent the voice of the industry’s majority, and that because it is not practical to survey and interview every organization and professional involved in Lean Six Sigma, IASSC has used reasonable methods and its best efforts to define and establish Lean Six Sigma standards for the purpose of supplying the Industry with standards that are viable and practical minimum competency standards. I understand that my engagement with IASSC, as described herein, constitutes my agreement with, alignment towards and support of, the IASSC standards, and I will use my best efforts, judgment and actions to uphold and defend these standards.
NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY, WHETHER HEREIN OR OTHERWISE, ANY INFORMATION, PRODUCT, OR SERVICE PROVIDED BY IASSC IS BEING PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS’’ BASIS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABLE FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
IASSC maintains the right to modify all Terms and Conditions herein as it deems necessary from time to time without notice; it is the responsibility of the IASSC-CBB, IASSC-CGB, IASSC-CYB and all Candidates to review all Terms and Conditions on a regular basis.
