Robert Shank, Managing Director
Robert presently serves as Managing Director of IASSC with responsibility for its strategic direction, market awareness program and overall operations.
His career has spanned the industries of commercial real estate development and management, chain restaurants and corporate training in the disciplines of Lean and Six Sigma. Most recently he has served as the Executive Vice President of Open Source Six Sigma LLC, a courseware provider to a world market. Just prior to this position he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Six Sigma Qualtec, a leading, worldwide training firm in the Lean Six Sigma methodologies. He has worked, at the executive level, with numerous Lean Six Sigma deployments, assisting with their structure, implementation and continuing success.
Robert holds a Bachelor Degree in Aerospace Engineering earned through St. Louis University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University.
Joep van Nieuwstadt, Associate Director of European Affairs
As an expert in the field of IT education and certification Joep has been heavily involved in many different standards: ECDL/ICDL, ITIL, ISO 20000, ISPL, COBIT, Prince2, IPMA, ASL and BISL, MOF, Six Sigma, Tmap and I-Tracks. As the CEO/Director of EXIN, currently one of the largest global certifying bodies, Joep took the institute from a national Dutch company to an international leader with 8 regional offices, 120 employees, and 20 million+ revenue.
Director Joep van Nieuwstadt is board member of the International Best Practices Institute (IBPI) (www.ibpi.org), an initiative that provides best practices for a wide audience. Joep has also served on various board positions including ITIL, ISPL (leading to a publication of 8 books and a certification program), Delft Top Tech and European e-skills Association.
Michael J. Miller, J.D. Director of Audit and Compliance
Michael is responsible to develop and monitor internal controls to assure independence, impartiality, competence, responses to complaints and appeals related to the certification assessment process. He works independently with IASSC in an effort to assure compliance with ISO, ICE, ANSI and other related standards.
Michael is a practicing attorney and has over forty years experience in corporate legal and operational roles. He most recently served as General Counsel to publicly-traded companies with responsibilities that included the development and management of SOX-compliant Audit Committee procedures and investigations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus and a Juris Doctorate degree from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota. He was admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 1977.
Scot Shank, Co-Founder & Adviser
In 2009 Scot Shank organized the creation of and co-founded the International Association for Six Sigma Certification, known as IASSC, in order to bring certification best-practices to the Lean Six Sigma industry. Currently Scot Shank serves as an Adviser to IASSC in a non-operational role.
